Introductory phone call
Interested in starting your own children’s tutoring franchise? Contact our team with any questions and we will discover if owning a Gideon Math & Reading Center is the right fit for you. First, we simply schedule an hour-long phone call to get to know you and your goals. We want to explore your timeline and decision criteria while discussing any questions or concerns you may have as well.
STEP 2
Full review of Gideon
Next is an in-depth presentation of the Gideon philosophy, our tutoring franchise start-up process, and the unique value to the community that our Franchisees offer to parents and students. We will give you a transparent view of running a center and the characteristics of a successful Franchisee. This step helps determine whether it makes sense to continue the franchising process through an open discussion of the business.

Complete questionnaire
If you would like to continue the discovery process, you will need to fill out a non-binding questionnaire to be considered for a franchise. There is no request at this time for sensitive details such as driver’s license or social security numbers. There is no obligation or commitment to invest at this point. Once we begin to consider the questionnaire, we will send you a box of Gideon samples and our FDD – see step 6 below.

Funding and territory analysis
Should you need funding, Gideon can put you in touch with small-business lenders who can help you understand the current funding environment and the different options that could be available. Additionally, we will discuss the center site options available in your potential territory and the selection process.

Franchise disclosure document review
The Federal Trade Commission requires every franchisor to give a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) to any prospective franchisees. This is a comprehensive, legal document which covers our company background and management team, a detailed breakdown of the total initial investment along with on-going costs, average center sales, a full list of current Franchisees, our current franchise agreement, our audited company financials, and more. It is important you fully understand every aspect of the business and our mutual obligations by thoroughly reviewing this document. We will also want to discuss your decision criteria and ensure that our tutoring franchise opportunities are right for you.
STEP 6
Attend Discovery Day
We will start by showing you Gideon in action during a regular class session with students at a local center and give you time to talk privately with that franchisee. Later you will visit our corporate center to have lunch with the Gideon team and ask any questions you like. We will discuss the on-boarding support in-depth. You will have the opportunity to tell us more about yourself and why opening a Gideon center is a good choice for both you and Gideon. No obligations are required during discovery day.

Executed Award Letter
After you’ve attended a Discovery Day and received an award letter, we will review the next steps. The final step is for you to pass a proficiency test in math and reading. We will provide a study guide with practice materials, and we can proctor this online while you take it from the comfort of your home.
STEP 8
Sign franchise agreement!
Congratulations! Upon receipt of the signed Franchise Agreement and initial fees, you are now a part of the Gideon Math & Reading family! We will schedule a call with our on-boarding team within just a few days to begin online training asap. During the first month of online training, we will also begin the site selection process with a commercial real estate broker. Our on-boarding and ongoing operations team will ensure that you are well trained and supported as you begin your new business.
